Column height and shengqi
  • The column height may not exceed 375 fen, nor may it exceed the width of the central bay. In our sample building, the columns are 250 fen high. The central bay is 250 fen wide. (See illustration.)
  • Shengqi is the slight variation in column height. It is required in the Yingzao fashi, but we have eliminated it from our sample building for the sake of simplicity.
