Xian dian (1168), bracket sets (puzuo)

In this photo, three types of bracket sets can be seen: intercolumnar (left), columnar (centre), and corner (right). All three have pointed components, but only in the intercolumnar set do these correspond to a real ang (lever arm). Those in the columnar and corner sets are ornamented gong (bracket arms). This can also be seen in Chuzu an at Shaolin si.
